I agree. This is long overdue. My only question is, why did this take so long to happen?

Ryan: Wisconsin AB69 is in line with the objectives of the state and national professional engineering organizations. This bill will strengthen Wisconsin's Professional Engineering licensure track. I support all the comments made from the Board. I am a member of ASCE, WSPE and several other professional organizations. In comparison other professionals (accountants, doctors, and lawyers) are REQUIRED to pass examinations to attain full licensure. There is no ability to wait several extra years to get your license. In fact, the construction industry also requires contractors to pass examinations in order to be licensed. These requirements are in place to protect the public's safety, health and welfare. The protections the public deserves should not be compromised regardless of the shortage of licensed engineers.
